CHANDIGARH: As a community, Jats in neighbouring states of Punjab remain on their own and only caste identity works for them. When Jats versus others polarisation took place in Haryana, caste was the only determining factor.
Jats were isolated and thrown out of power by other castes, despite the same religious identity – Hindu. In contrast, all attempts to isolate Jat Sikhs failed in Punjab and propaganda against them during the farm movement failed to work as other Sikhs remained firmly behind them and pooled in their resources and energy for them.
Now, all parties are keen to get their votes and BJP has also inducted and fielded several Jat Sikh leaders.
