In a heartbreaking story, a 75-year-old professional from the American Midwest fell victim to an online scam known as "pig butchering." The ordeal began with an innocent LinkedIn message. The scammer, posing as a wealthy young Chinese woman, praised the man’s professional achievements and suggested moving their conversation to WhatsApp for more privacy. This marked the beginning of a sophisticated fraud known as "pig butchering," where scammers build a romantic rapport with their victims to gain their trust and access their finances.
