The housekeeper who found Aaron Carter 's body after he died was a homeless woman he had taken in.
The tragic singer reportedly hired the home help just a few weeks ago after he was alerted to a potential break-in at his house while out of town.
Aaron was away with his fiancée Melanie Miller in Orange County visiting their son Prince who Melanie's mother has custody of when the on/off couple were alerted to a possible intruder.
The alarm was raised when their front door was seen open and cigarette butts were found at the property that had been left behind.
Reports by TMZ suggest that the event led to a friend encouraging them to get a house sitter for their Lancaster-based property in the future if they went out of town.
The said friend then allegedly suggested that they hire a woman from his church who was also homeless.
Aaron and Melanie then reportedly met with the woman and decided that she was the right choice for them and offered her a deal that meant she would have a place to stay with them and in exchange would help them out by doing odd jobs and keeping an eye on things around the house.
TMZ reported that this is the same woman who found Aaron dead in the bath last weekend and called 911 for help.
She had only been living with Melanie and Aaron for a couple of weeks and there is no further information on what will happen to her now.
Meanwhile, Aaron's brother, Backstreet Boys star Nick Carter, has returned to the US after completing the band's UK leg of their DNA tour.
He performed at London's O2 Arena last weekend just one day after learning of his brother's death.
Nick, 42, broke down in tears on stage during the show as the band paid tribute to Aaron with a slideshow of photos playing on big screens around the venue.
The lead singer has been noticeably absent from any duties outside of the scheduled performances for the band with him not attending pre-planned fan meet and greet sessions and media interviews.
Just hours before the London show Nick admitted his heartbreak over the death of his younger sibling posting an Instagram tribute to his "baby brother."
He wrote: "My heart is broken. Even though my brother and I have had a complicated relationship, my love for him has never ever faded. I have always held on to the hope that he would somehow, someday want to walk a healthy path and eventually find the help that he so desperately needed.
"Sometimes we want to blame someone or something for a loss, but the truth is that addiction and mental illness is the real villain here. I will miss my brother more than anyone will ever know. I love you Chizz. Now you can finally have the peace you could never find here on earth….God, Please take care of my baby brother."
A cause of death for Aaron is yet to be confirmed with further investigation pending.
