Housebuilder gives boost to Paisley's much-loved Accord Hospice

Hospice chiefs have received a boost, thanks to a deal with a leading housebuilder.

Construction firm Taylor Wimpey West Scotland had pledged to hand over cash from every new home sold at their new Hawkhead Gardens development to help the Paisley’s Accord Hospice.

They committed to donating a £25 sum for every property under legal completion at the new site.

And the company dealt the facility another boost recently when they handed over the third portion - a £1,075 sum - to the Morton Avenue facility, taking the overall donation so far to £2,300.

It is almost half way towards the £5,250 total sum the company will pay to boost the hospice.

The company say the latest donation is an acknowledgement of the long-term relationship between the housebuilder and the Accord Hospice, which lies close to the new Hawkhead Gardens development.

Audrey Ross, Sales and Marketing Director at Taylor Wimpey West Scotland said: “We are delighted to be able to support the local ACCORD Hospice. Our donations to date of £2,300 reflects our ongoing relationship with this essential local charity and service that provides a link between our new community at Hawkhead Gardens and the existing community of Paisley.

“Working with the ACCORD Hospice is a real honour and we are extremely proud to be showing our support in this way. Being able to work with local charities and organisations that surround our developments means a great deal to us, and it’s always lovely to know that we are helping to make a difference to the lives of people in our local communities.”

The cash is aimed at helping to back the hospice’s mission to provide palliative and end of life care to people living with, or affected by, a life-limiting illness in Renfrewshire and parts of East Renfrewshire.

Vanessa Robinson, from Accord Hospice, extended thanks to the company for their backing, saying: “We are extremely grateful for the support that we continue to receive from Taylor Wimpey West Scotland, and we can’t thank them enough for their ongoing support of our work. This money will be put to work locally to help us achieve the overall aim of our service to the local community. On behalf of everyone at ACCORD, I would like to say a huge thank you.”

Taylor Wimpey West Scotland’s donation to the ACCORD Hospice is one of a string of contributions being made by the housebuilder towards community facilities and infrastructure in the wider area.

The Hawkhead Gardens development offers a range of two, three and four bedroom homes on Hawkhead Road.
