House stuck in the 1970s to be auctioned off with £29k guide price

Estate agents are trying to sell a house in the Midlands that appears to have been frozen in the 1970s. The interior of the terrace house in Burton upon Trent has an unmistakable 70s feel.

Most of the rooms in the property are decorated with wallpaper and carpets adorned with garish patterns in bold colours. Derbyshire Live reports that the house, which has three bedrooms, is going up for auction with a guide price of £29,000.

There are two sets of striking wallpaper in the living room. A brown and white design decorates the side of the room where the chimney breast is located and a distinctive burgundy shade is hung on the wall opposite.

The living room also features a classic 1970s electric fireplace. The jungle-like garden, meanwhile, is so overgrown it looks like it hasn't been touched since the 70s.

The bathroom appears to be decorated with a tile-effect wallpaper. The bath and sink are coloured in a striking shade of sky blue.

A Zoopla spokesman said: "A vacant freehold three bedroom town-house located in the highly sought after area of Burton-on-Trent. The property consists of two reception rooms, kitchen, family bathroom, three well proportioned bedrooms as well as front and rear gardens.

"The property would make an excellent owner occupier or investment property having local amenities and transport links close by. Burton-on-Trent is a market town in Staffordshire England, close to the border with Derbyshire.

"Burton is 11 miles (18 km) southwest of Derby, 27 miles (43 km) northwest of Leicester, 28 miles (45 km) west-southwest of Nottingham and 20 miles (32 km) south of the southern entrance to the Peak District National Park."
