House Republicans Propose Renaming Washington Dulles Airport After Trump

Republican presidential candidate campaigns in New Hampshire

A group of House Republicans has introduced a bill to rename Washington, D.C.'s main international airport after former President Trump. The bill, introduced by Rep. Guy Reschenthaler, R-Pa., along with six cosponsors, seeks to change the name of Washington Dulles International Airport in Virginia to 'Donald J. Trump International Airport.'

Reschenthaler stated that he believes the nation was at its greatest under the leadership of President Trump and that renaming the airport would symbolize freedom, prosperity, and strength for travelers arriving in the United States.

If the bill were to pass, all references to Washington Dulles International Airport in official documents and records would be changed to Donald J. Trump International Airport. The bill is supported by several other House Republicans, including Reps. Michael Waltz, Andy Ogles, Chuck Fleischmann, Paul Gosar, Barry Moore, and Troy Nehls.

While the bill faces challenges in the Democrat-controlled Senate, supporters argue that it would be a fitting tribute to President Trump, similar to the renaming of Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport in Arlington, Virginia, in 1998. Rep. Moore emphasized the importance of honoring President Trump's fight for the American people, while Rep. Gosar suggested that naming both airports in the nation's capital after Presidents Reagan and Trump would be a fitting recognition of their leadership.
