House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer has issued a subpoena to Secret Service Director Kimberly Cheatle, requesting her presence at the committee's upcoming hearing on July 22. The focus of the hearing will be the recent failed assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump.
In the subpoena letter, Comer expressed concern over the uncertainty surrounding Cheatle's attendance. He noted that while the Secret Service had initially confirmed Cheatle's participation, there were indications that Department of Homeland Security officials may have intervened, casting doubt on her availability.
