As one "Game of Thrones" spinoff approaches its end, HBO is already starting to build up hype for our second return to Westeros later this year: the "House of the Dragon" season 3 teaser trailer has landed — and it looks good.
I thoroughly enjoyed "House of the Dragon's" second season, but I had one complaint about the finale, and that was that it stepped on the brakes and ended just before the action I'd been craving. I really thought we were on the cusp of another epic battle ... but we weren't. However, it looks like my prayers have been answered, and judging by the new footage (embedded below), "House of the Dragon" season 3 looks set to correct that misstep in a big way.
This new teaser sets up conflict, and lots of it. Rhaenyra's (Emma D'Arcy) preparing to descend on King's Landing, though her son's not sure she can truly trust Alicent. We see glimpses of war raging across the land and sea, with dragons spitting fire overhead, snapshots of foreboding conversations, and plenty of faces scarred by strong emotions. Simply put, it looks like "House of the Dragon" is about to deliver the kind of fantasy spectacle I've been waiting for, and I cannot wait to see the carnage play out on TV.
Sure, I've already been delighted by what "A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms" has served up over the last few weeks, and I don't want this article to undercut my excitement for the forthcoming season finale — Dunk's impassioned speech to the crowds at Ashord Meadow, his phenomenal "Trial of Seven" brawl, and that shock end to episode 5 are some of my top TV highlights of 2026, so far — but this trailer has my hype levels sky-high already.
There's truly nothing I love more on TV than a grand "Game of Thrones" battle, and it looks like we're due plenty of fantasy chaos when the series returns this June (as the teaser confirms).
"House of the Dragon" season 3 premieres in June 2026 on HBO Max.
