HBO's popular series House of the Dragon has once again fallen victim to an online leak, this time ahead of its season two finale. The eighth episode, scheduled to air on Aug. 4, was illegally uploaded to a TikTok account just days before its official release. The clips, which seemed to be recorded by filming a screen with a secondary device, quickly garnered over 100,000 views before being taken down.
This recent leak is not the first time House of the Dragon has faced such a situation. In 2022, the season one finale was also leaked online prior to its scheduled broadcast. HBO had attributed that leak to a distribution partner in the Europe, Middle East, and Africa region and took swift action to remove the unauthorized content from the internet.
Similarly, in 2017, an episode from season seven of Game of Thrones, another HBO series, was leaked on illegal torrent sites before its official release. HBO had then stated that the leak was a result of a third-party vendor accidentally posting the episode online.
As of now, it remains unclear who is responsible for the recent House of the Dragon leak. HBO has been contacted for comment on the matter, and it is expected that the network will take necessary steps to address the situation and prevent further leaks.
