House Majority Leader Calls For Dropping Criminal Cases Against Trump

Former U.S. President and Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump campaigns in Clinton trump presidential candidate campaign

House Majority Leader Rep. Steve Scalise, R-La., has made a public statement urging the Department of Justice and prosecutors in New York and Georgia to dismiss all criminal cases against President-elect Trump. Scalise emphasized that the recent election results reflect the will of the American people and that it is time to put an end to what he referred to as 'lawfare'.

In his social media post, Scalise specifically called on Attorney General Garland, Alvin Bragg of New York, and Fani Willis of Georgia to cease the ongoing prosecutions of President Donald Trump, which he believes are politically motivated.

Special Counsel Jack Smith is currently leading two federal cases against Trump. One case in Washington, D.C., involves Trump's alleged connection to the January 6, 2021, riot, while the other case in Florida is centered around the retention of classified documents.

New York District Attorney Alvin Bragg has already obtained a conviction against Trump for falsifying business records related to a payment made to adult film star Stormy Daniels.

Meanwhile, in Georgia, Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis is pursuing a case against Trump for purported election interference as part of a conspiracy involving 18 other defendants.

It is important to note that President-elect Trump has pleaded not guilty to all charges brought against him in these various cases.
