House Homeland Security Chairman Mark Green recently held a call with US Secret Service Director Kimberly Cheatle to address the historic security failures that occurred during Saturday's rally at the Capitol. Green, a Tennessee Republican, raised pressing questions regarding the events that transpired and requested information from Department of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas.
During the call, Cheatle assured Green that the requested documents would be provided to the committee promptly. In response to the ongoing inquiries, the committee majority has scheduled a virtual briefing with Cheatle on Monday to allow members to express their concerns and seek clarification on the matter.
President Joe Biden has also taken action by ordering an independent review of the national security measures implemented during the rally. The purpose of this review is to assess the events that unfolded and provide transparency to the American people regarding the findings.
