U.S. Representative McCaul participates in a Republican-led forum on the possible origins of the COVID-19 coronavirus outbreak in Wuhan, China, on Capitol Hill in Washington

Earlier this month, House Foreign Affairs Chairman Michael McCaul was detained at Dulles Airport after appearing intoxicated. The incident occurred when McCaul, who had consumed the sleep aid Ambien and alcohol, was disoriented from the medication and alcohol he had taken before boarding a flight home to Texas.

Reported by Semafor and confirmed by a spokesperson for the congressman, McCaul missed his flight and locked himself out of his cell phone. Subsequently, police detained him, assuming he was intoxicated.
