A family of five was killed after fire destroyed their house in Chiang Mai on Wednesday night.
It happened near midnight at a two-storey detached house in Soi Ruen Kham 17 in Pa-Daet.
The fire destroyed the house, and firefighters took about an hour to bring the blaze under control.
Several rescue units were dispatched to the scene, where they helped five people out of the house and performed CPR while transporting them to Maharaj Nakorn Chiang Mai Hospital.
However, the father, the mother, twin children and a grandmother all died at the hospital.
Officials believed the cause of the fire was a short circuit. The victims appeared to have been sleeping on the second floor and were unaware when the fire started.
