Hour delays on M6 and lanes closed as two vans and car crash

Motorists on the M6 have been warned to expect hour long delays after two vans and a car crashed.

Cheshire Police rushed to the M6 southbound between junctions 20A (Lymm) and 19 (Tabley) following a 999 call reporting a three vehicle crash. Once officers arrived at the scene they found a Land Rover, a Ford Transit van and a Citroën van had crashed on the road.

All three lanes of traffic were stopped by officers while the North West Ambulance Service and Highways attended. Nobody is believed to be seriously injured in the crash, with one woman suffering with a slight neck injury.

Nobody was taken to hospital. Just one hour later two lanes of traffic were reopened by officers, with the inside lane remaining closed for the recovery of vehicles and clean up.

National Highways reported around seven miles of queues and warned people to expect at least 65 minutes of delays.

A tweet from the company said: "Lanes 2 and 3 are now open on the M6 southbound between J20a Lymm and J19 Tabley Interchange following an earlier collision. Lane 1 remains closed for recovery and clean up. There are currently delays of 65 mins and approx. Seven miles of congestion."
