Hour-by-hour weather forecast as North East set to bask in glorious sunshine

It's another scorcher on Thursday with the Met Office predicting sunny cloudless skies for the North East.

Temperatures are once again expected to exceed the mid 20s, with a conservative estimate that Newcastle could be 26°C by the afternoon - though it could get as high as 31°C. It should remain dry, with less than 5% chance of rain throughout the day.

In Southern England, the Met Office has issued an Amber Extreme heat warning, which is in place from midnight on Thursday until the end of Sunday, with possible impact to health, transport and infrastructure as temperatures could hit 36°C. Thankfully, temperatures are not expected to get as high in the North East, though it may still be advisable to check on those who are vulnerable to the heat including older people, young children, and those with underlying health conditions.
