While many residents across the North East will have hoped for snow across the region to make Christmas feel that little bit more iconic, they will be disappointed to learn that Sunday will be plagued with showers.
Tomorrow, although starting off with sunny intervals will soon see light showers landing around lunchtime, before levelling off for an hour or two before rain returns in the evening. Highs of 9C and lows of 2C are expected respectively.
Boxing Day looks to bring a polar opposite however, with most of the moisture in the sky drying up completely and clouds dissipating to reveal sunny skies throughout. Highs of 5C and lows of 3C will come with.
The Met Office forecast for Saturday says: "Scattered showers or longer spells of rain, sometimes heavy, these most likely across the Pennines with some eastern areas staying dry. Remaining breezy, and windy over high ground.
"Maximum temperature 9 °C."
