A HOTEL in East Lothian believed to be named after a supposedly haunted castle has been put up for sale.
The Herald reports that Cornerstone Business Agents has put the Goblin Ha’Hotel in Gifford, East Lothian up for sale.
Featuring a “popular destination bar and restaurant,” as well as seven en-suite letting rooms and beer garden, it was named after part of the nearby original Yester Castle ruin.
Known as the Hobgoblin Hall, which was said to have been built using “magic” by a wizard and hobgoblins, and which featured in Sir Walter Scott’s Marmion.
The agent has said there is substantial owners accommodation at the site on the main street of the “idyllic village of Gifford”.
It described the premises as an “iconic two-storey, painted property”.
The property is offered on a new lease agreement for five or 10 years, with a tied lease for beer, cider, ale and lager.
Cornerstone Business Agents said a guide price of £20,000 is sought with the annual rent coming in at £71,206.
Any potential tenants must be “demonstrably capable of fulfilling their obligations under the lease agreement and references will be requested without exception”.
