Hotel Cancels Pro-Israel Event Amid Safety Concerns

Pro-Israel students take part in a protest in support of Israel

A national hotel recently canceled a pro-Israel event that was scheduled to take place due to threats received. The Sinesta Hotel in Nashville informed the organization Hiavel on May 10th that they had received credible threats regarding the safety of the group, guests, employees, hotel, sister properties, and businesses in the neighborhood. Law enforcement officials confirmed these threats. However, the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department later clarified that they did not advocate for the event's cancellation, contradicting the hotel's claims.

The pro-Israel event, organized by Hiavel, was intended to be a three-day conference bringing together pro-Israel Americans to learn about Israel's truth and beauty and stand against anti-Semitism. The event featured speakers from Israel, including a music artist, an Israeli band, and a member of Knesset, Israel's parliament.

Following the cancellation, the event found a new venue at Ramsey Solutions, thanks to Dave Ramsey's generosity. First Liberty Institute, representing Hiavel, highlighted that the hotel's actions violated Title II of the Civil Rights Act and Tennessee state law. They are working to address the legal implications with the hotel.

The Sinesta Hotel cited safety concerns as the reason for canceling the event, stating that proceeding with it posed a significant risk to their team, guests, and attendees due to heightened security concerns. Despite the relocation, the hotel expressed regret for any inconvenience caused.

Both Hiavel and First Liberty Institute emphasized their commitment to ensuring the safety and security of all event attendees. They expressed disappointment over the perceived violation of freedom of speech and religion in America. First Liberty Institute also underscored the importance of upholding religious freedom and combating discrimination.

In conclusion, the incident reflects a complex interplay between security considerations, freedom of expression, and religious rights. While the event will proceed at a new location, discussions continue regarding the legal implications of the hotel's decision and the broader implications for religious freedom in the United States.
