A tiny terrier is on the countdown to Christmas - but not in the same way many of us are. Seven-year-old Stevie is counting down the weeks to December 25 in the hopes he might find a forever home where he can spend the big day curled up by the fire with a gift under the Christmas tree.
The Parsons Russell Terrier is a playful boy who lives an adventure and is said to be a big fan of squeaky toys or a game of tuggy.
Many who have visited Manchester Christmas Markets this year may have sampled a bratwurst or two (or six, like we did), and this handsome chap is also quite the fan of a hotdog himself, with the Dogs Trust saying you’ll have a ‘mate for life’ if you share.

Stevie loves to jump in the car for a day trip but prefers to be walked in quieter areas where he won’t be bothered by too many dogs, and he would love to have a secure garden to play in at home.
Dogs Trust Manchester Manager, Lisa Eardley, says: “Stevie is a lovely boy; the perfect mix of a fun, lively dog but he also likes a gentle fuss to be made of him and enjoys snuggling up on the sofa for a cosy afternoon. What more could anyone ask from a canine companion?”
Stevie would like to be the only pet in the home but he can live with children aged 16 and over. He loves human company so his home alone time will need to be built up gradually.
Stevie, of course, is not the only dog at the Manchester-based charity with a forever home at the top of their wish list, as the charity can care for up to 112 dogs at a time.
Currently on their website there are 33 adoptable dogs waiting for homes, including American Bulldog Blaze, featured in the M.E.N last week still seeing an adopter, as well as Baloo - named after the Jungle Book character.
