Hospitality firm behind popular Glasgow bars and restaurants goes into liquidation

A Glasgow hospitality group behind some of the city's most popular bars and restaurants has gone into liquidation.

Kained Holdings, which owns Lebowskis, Porter & Rye, Oyster Bar, and The Finnieston, has been court-ordered to be wound up over unpaid debts.

Wylie & Bissett has been appointed as liquidators but it is understood jobs across the business have been secured, Glasgow Live reports.

Originally launched in 2011 by friends Graham Suttle, Scott Arnot, and Maurice Clark, Kained Holdings has been praised for giving Finnieston a 'new lease of life' after opening some of the area's most popular venues.

Company director Mr Suttle, who has previously discussed the 'horrendous problems' facing the hospitality sector as a result of the covid pandemic and Brexit, said of the liquidation: "It’s sad to see a company started by three friends all those years ago coming to an end.

"However despite horrendous problems from Covid, lockdown and other issues, and a lot of diligent work in the background from our teams, I am at least hugely relieved that we have managed to secure the jobs of those amazing people who make our business what it is.

"It is business as usual for our much-loved bars and restaurants."
