Hospice supporters raise a glass to latest anniversary venture thanks to special gin

Supporters of Accord Hospice are raising a glass to its latest venture to celebrate its 40th anniversary.

The much-loved Paisley hospice has teamed up with the town’s Tear Drop Gin to create its very own, limited-edition gin to mark its anniversary year.

Just 200 bottles of the gin have been released for sale – and 100 have already been sold – with the bottle decorated with the company’s teardrop symbol using the hospice colours of grey and gold.

David McFadden, Accord hospice fundraising manager said: “We are thrilled to create our very first hospice limited edition gin with Tear Drop. It has been an exciting project to work on with the Paisley company and we could not be more appreciative of their support.

“We are always looking to collaborate with local companies and Tear Drop have really stepped up to support the hospice.

“They have created a beautiful gin in a commemorative bottle to celebrate the hospice, whilst raising some funds for the care we provide.

“We have already sold half the gin created and can’t thank everyone for their support.

“We hope you enjoy!”

The Accord Tear Drop gin contains juniper, coriander, angelica root, cassia bark, almonds, lemon peel, black pepper, brambles and rowan berries distilled in a London dry style.

Tear Drop Gin was created by Paisley husband and wife team Donald and Louise Boyd in 2020.

The gin is distilled in a traditional style to reflect Paisley’s historical roots but with the addition of brambles and rowan berries which remind Louise and Donald of their childhood growing up in Paisley.

They said: “This is our original Tear Drop Gin with a collaboration with our local hospice - Accord Hospice Paisley.

“Supplied to the hospice at ex-distillery cost, all profits from the bottle will be donated back to Accord.

“With this batch we are hoping to sell out and generate over £2,200 for the hospice.”
