Horse becomes spooked and bucks while pulling Princess Beatrice at Royal Ascot

A horse at Royal Ascot threatened to derail the royal procession as it appeared to become spooked while pulling Princess Beatrice’s carriage.

The animal was leading Beatrice and her husband Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi when it bucked, forcing horsemen to step in as it became skittish. Luckily they were able to quickly bring the horse under control and avoid anyone being harmed in the disruption.

Beatrice and Edoardo, who welcomed their first child together in September last year, waved to crowds who raised their hats to the royals as they made their way up the race track, The Mirror reports . Their carriage was second in the procession, with the first being occupied by the Duke of Kent who recently accompanied the Queen on the Buckingham Palace balcony during the Jubilee celebrations.

The horse racing event in Berkshire has seen several members of the Royal family attend this year, with the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge leading the royal procession on Friday. Racegoers gave a warm welcome to the pair, who were clearly having a lovely time with Kate pictured giving a huge laugh as she shared a moment with William.

The scorching temperatures led organisers to make some amendments to the strict dress code, permitting guests to remove their hats, ties and jackets as the heat edged over 30°C. In the most formal Royal Enclosure men must usually wear a top hat, waistcoat and tie, while women must also wear hats or headpieces specifically with a base of at least four inches.
