The first crash happened shortly after 11pm, when a car struck a 31-year-old man on the Blessington Road in Tallaght.

Gardai and Dublin Fire Brigade attended the scene before the man was taken to Tallaght Hospital, where his condition is understood to be serious but not life-threatening.

Just hours later, a man aged in his 40s was struck by a car on the Drimnagh Road in Dublin 12.

Both drivers, and the sole occupant of the car in the second crash, are all uninjured.

The road at the crash site on the Drimnagh Road is currently closed for a technical examination.
