An island off the southeastern coast of Brazil might just have one of the darkest histories when it comes to now abandoned communities.
Ilha da Queimada Grande, near Sao Paulo, was inhabited in the early 20th century by just a handful of people enlisted to run the lighthouse.
However, the brave residents risked their lives every day as they shared the island with thousands of deadly snakes - giving it the nickname 'Snake Island'.
