Three German motorcyclists have died following a high-speed collision following a game of 'chicken', it is reported.
The incident happened at a former airfield in Brandenburg near Berlin where around 50 motorcyclist enthusiasts met at an event organised by the Knieschleifer (Kneesliders) on Saturday.
Like many vehicular events, enthusiasts were seen performing stunts on their bikes while also admiring each other's motorcycle and taking photos.
However, it was reported that two men decided to go to the oppose ends of the runway for a daring game of 'chicken', where bikers race towards each other at high speeds and challenging the opponent to swerve away first.
A 46-year-old man from the Brandenburg area was riding one of the bikers while the other was ridden by a 47-year-old man with a 36-year-old riding pillion, thought to have been recording the dangerous game.
All the other bikers at the event claim not to have seen the incident take place but did hear the sound of tyres screeching and a loud collision.
Matthias Kruger from the Wittstock Fire Brigade said the incident was so graphic that "even for our experienced colleagues a scene like this is unusual".
According to quotes gathered by The Times, he said: "When we arrived there was a huge field of debris scattered over 150 metres.
"Three people lay on the ground lifeless. The colleagues from the ambulance service and we immediately conducted resuscitation measures.
"We as members of the fire brigade often see suffering and misery, but even for our experienced colleagues a scene like this is unusual."
It comes after another incident where a British tourist died and a second was seriously injured after their motorcycle crashed into the back of a rubbish truck on a Thai island earlier this month.
James Stephenson Young, 36, and a friend, called Pierre, aged 30 were believed to have been drinking at a local bar on Koh Samui, in the Gulf of Thailand, before trying to ride back to their hotel in the early hours of Thursday morning.
They were riding a white Honda scooter when they ploughed into the back of the bright yellow garbage truck while trying to overtake the vehicle on a bendy dark narrow road at around 1am local time.
Police and paramedics arrived at the scene and performed CPR on James, who had been a passenger, for around 10 minutes. However, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
Pierre, whose surname has not been released, was taken to the Koh Samui Hospital for treatment.
