Christa Pike’s botched capital punishment attempt in Tennessee has taken an even more disturbing turn as new details emerge about what happened behind the closed curtains of the chamber.

The 50-year-old is now fighting for her life in a Nashville-area hospital after the lethal injection went so badly, with her lawyers revealing the extent of the physical toll she suffered during the botched procedure.

Pike is facing the highest degree of punishment for the 1995 homicide of her high school classmate, Colleen Slemmer.
