Police officers opened fire and fatally shot a knife-wielding man Wednesday afternoon after officers confronted the man barricaded in a building in west suburban Aurora, according to police.
Officers responded to a 911 call of a person with a weapon shortly before 1 p.m. in the 300 block of South Broadway and found the man, who displayed a knife, police said in a statement on social media. Aurora police officers then fired shots, striking the man at least once, police said.
Late Wednesday, police released a statement saying the man, 27 years old, died from his injuries.
The Fox Valley Major Crimes Task Force is investigating the officers' actions, police said.
