The Boston Celtics obliterated the Charlotte Hornets at TD Garden on Sunday in their preseason home opener, blowing out the Hornets 134-93 with a balanced effort built on ball movement and red-hot perimeter shooting (46.8% from beyond the arc).
Boston’s starters were the image of title contenders many hoped they would be sans Ime Udoka, Robert Williams III, and Danilo Gallinari, with Jaylen Brown leading the Celtics with 24 points and 5 rebounds. Jayson Tatum added 16 points and 6 boards, and Sam Hauser chipped in another 14 points off of the bench,
Super sixth man Malcolm Brogdon logged 11 points, 5 rebounds, and 9 assists, and the Celtics also saw strong games from deep rotation players like Mfiondu Kabengele (10 points), and Noah Vonleh (7 points, 9 rebounds).
