Hopes for a white Christmas in the North East could turn out to be a damp squib as updated weather predictions now suggest we're in for milder conditions on the big day.
There had been suggestions last week that Newcastle could be in for some snow this December 25 with early BBC forecasts predicting 'light snow' from 7am and another sprinkle in the late afternoon. But the latest forecasts now are for milder conditions.
The Met Office says that the North East as a whole can expect partly cloudy conditions changing to sunny intervals by late morning. They may be some light rain later in the afternoon but it should stay mainly dry, save for across the Pennines which could see scattered showers, even heavy rain. It's set to be breezy with maximum temperatures around 9°C. Here's the breakdown for Newcastle.

Boxing Day
Regionwide, Monday is set to feel colder and breezy with perhaps a few showers before Tuesday turns milder with rain later, continuing on Wednesday.
Newcastle is however due to see sunshine on December 26, from 9am onwards.
