Former Trump confidante Hope Hicks has been summoned as the next witness for the prosecution in Donald Trump's trial. Hicks, who served as Trump's press secretary during his campaign, is expected to provide insights into the events leading up to the 2016 election.
During her appearance before the grand jury last year, Hicks, along with Kellyanne Conway, discussed crucial details that could shed light on the inner workings of the Trump campaign. This includes the hush money paid to adult film star Stormy Daniels by Michael Cohen to conceal an alleged affair with Trump.
Following the release of the 'Access Hollywood' tape in 2016, federal search warrants revealed a frantic effort within the Trump campaign to suppress further damaging allegations. Hicks was reportedly involved in phone calls with Cohen and Trump, as well as executives from American Media Inc., the parent company of the National Enquirer.
Despite testifying before the House Judiciary Committee that she had no direct knowledge of discussions between Trump and Cohen regarding Daniels, the newly released documents suggest otherwise. FBI officials believed that the conversations Hicks was part of were related to the efforts to silence Daniels.
As the trial unfolds, Hicks' testimony is anticipated to provide crucial insights into the events that transpired during the final weeks of the 2016 election campaign. Stay tuned for further updates as the trial progresses.
