Hope for four-year-old boy hurt in car crash that killed his mum

A little boy left fighting for his life after a crash which killed a "beautiful" mum is slowly improving in hospital. Police issued the "extremely good news" nearly three weeks after the crash on the A487 Y Felinheli bypass, near Caernarfon.

Tragically, Emma Louise Morris, 28 died in the crash on Monday, April 3. Beautiful tributes to Emma Louise are here.

The four-year-old, understood to be the Pwllheli mum's son, was taken to Alder Hey hospital in Liverpool and was left with “life-threatening” injuries but his condition is now improving, North Wales Police has confirmed. Three other people, also seriously injured, have now been discharged from hospital.

The fatal crash involved a dark grey Audi A3, a BMW 1 series, a Peugeot 208 and a Skoda Octavia.

A woman was airlifted to hospital in Stoke but she has now been sent home. Two others were taken to Ysbyty Gwynedd with serious injuries but they have also been discharged.

Investigating Officer, PC Gareth Rogers of the Roads Policing Unit said: “Thankfully the little boy is improving, which is extremely good news. Our thoughts remain with Miss Morris’ family and friends at what is a very difficult time for all.

"They continue to be supported by a specially trained family liaison officer. Our investigation is underway, and we’d like to use this opportunity to issue a further appeal for witnesses.

"We continue to carry out enquiries to establish the full circumstances and would like to thank those who have contacted us so far. However, we continue to urge anybody who has not already spoken to us to get in touch.

"In particular, anybody who was travelling along the A487 bypass between 6:30pm and 7pm and who may have witnessed the collision, or anybody who may have dash cam footage leading up to the collision.”

Emma’s parents paid this heartfelt tribute: “Our beautiful daughter has been cruelly taken from us - and too soon.

“At just 28 years old, our darling girl had so much more life to live. Emma Louise Morris was beautiful inside and out and will leave an enormous void in all of our lives.

“We are very grateful for all the kind words received from family and friends but we would ask that our privacy be respected at this difficult time and we will not issue any further comment. We continue to monitor our grandson who remains in a critical but stable condition in hospital. We pray that he will heal soon.”
