It's time to get on your bike and support a good cause.

The family of friends of 14-year-old Bryson Dimovski, who was tragically killed in an alleged hit and run accident last year, have invited everyone to join them for a spin class with a difference.

Genesis Fitness at Warners Bay is hosting two 45 minute classes catering for 32 people each next Thursday October 17.

The first class will be held at 9.15am and the second at 5.30pm.

Entry costs $10 with funds going to support the Road Trauma Support Group.

"The group has been incredibly supportive of our family and everything we have been through. We are just doing what we can to give something back," Bryson's father Andrew Dimovski said.

Music will include some of Bryson's favourite tracks.

"A couple of Bryson's friends have shared a couple of playlists with us that will be used for the class. We are really looking forward to it," Mr Dimovski said.

The event follows a memorial trail bike ride last weekend, which attracted about 200 participants.

Bryson, a talented mechanic, had been fixing a bike shortly before his death.

With the help of his cousin, the project was completed and was ridden by Mr Dimovski at the event.

Bryson was riding his electric scooter on the shoulder of Macquarie Road, 800 metres north of the Medcalf Street intersection, at 5.30pm on July 28 last year when he was allegedly struck by a car.

His body was found on a grass verge several hours after family and friends started looking for him.

Police allege a car driven by 21-year-old Jaycob Issac Gemza struck Bryson.

The 22-year-old has pleaded guilty to a charge of failing to stop and assist after a vehicle impact causing death, and not guilty to dangerous driving occasioning death - driving in a dangerous manner.

He is due to face trial next year.

The Dimovski family is supporting the Road Trauma Support Group's push for tougher penalties for serious road crimes.

In recent times they have been joined by Duncan Wakes-Miller whose 17-year-old son, Barney, was killed in a drunk driving-related crash in 2020.

The driver of the vehicle was placed on a 21-month good behaviour bond by a Children's Court magistrate.

Mr Wakes-Miller is presently petitioning the parliament to pass legislation which will increase road safety by enforcing stricter penalties and rehabilitation programs.

Next Thursday's spin class is open to both members and non-members of Genesis. Anyone wishing to participate can book by phoning Genesis reception on 40878799. Spots are limited.
