Hooters waitress says customer made her cry after leaving rude note and no tip on huge bill

In any customer-facing job, you’re bound to meet the best and worst of humanity on a daily basis.

Although it’s common knowledge that tipping 20% of a bill is standard in the US, not everyone heeds the rule.

Sadly for TikToker @keylamxo, she encountered a table that was both rude and didn’t bother tipping once they cashed out.

Posting her customer horror story to TikTok, the former Hooters waitress told of an encounter she had with a table while working at a Florida-based Hooters.

Since uploading the story she has received over 375,000 likes and 3.3 million views.

She introduced the story by saying: “Here’s one of the many times that a customer made me cry while I worked at Hooters.”

As she spoke she had a picture of the receipt in the background, showing “f**k you” penned where the tip amount should be written along with a shoddily-drawn picture of a raised middle finger.

The TikToker explained that a girl she went to high school with came into the restaurant with her family to celebrate her father’s birthday.

During the birthday bash, the group of five adults and four children ordered food, with the adults guzzling 25 shots of Don Julio at $18 apiece.

When it came time to pay the bill, the mother got a nasty shock. Apparently she told the TikToker that if she had warned her the tab was so high, she would have gotten a tip.

Commenting on the situation now, she said: “Like ma’am I just work here, I am not pocket-watching, I do not know how much is in your bank account. Maybe you shouldn’t go out to eat if you can’t f**king afford to.”

Before leaving, she said a member of the group sprayed ketchup all over the table and knock over all the drinks before leaving the restaurant.

It wasn’t all bad for her though. Thankfully some of her regular customers came to the rescue to lift her spirits.

In a follow-up video, she shared two bills from the following day showing tips for $100 and $110 from regular customers in a bid to restore her faith in humanity.

Most of the comments were on her side, with one user saying: “The same people saying they shouldn’t have to tip ‘cause you chose that work are the same people mad their favourite restaurant is understaffed with poor service now.” The TikToker replied saying: “This is the one” along with a clapping emoji.

Another comment, with 27,000 likes, made an apt point: “If you warned her about the tab getting high she would have said you insulted her and leave no tip because of that.”

The TikToker also fired back at comments that made assumptions over the race of the family that came into the restaurant and slammed such commenters for feeding a racist stereotype.

In a separate comment thread, the uploader said: “I don’t know if ya’ll noticed but we’re in the middle of a pandemic and a lot of restaurants are short-staffed on servers, kitchen staff, bussers, and food runners, just ‘cause it took a little longer than it used to doesn’t mean the service was bad and those employees don’t deserve a tip.

She added: “At the end of the day they still had to serve you and chances are they tried their best with what they have.”

If she ever fancies getting another waitressing gig, we know someone who’s just opened a new restaurant...
