Police have arrested a Hong Kong man in Bangkok for a murder he allegedly committed in Hong Kong 37 years ago.
Mui Yiu Keung, 62, was arrested in Nong Chok district on Monday.
The arrest was in response to a request from the Hong Kong government, who were on the hunt for the last of the four suspects in the murder of a man in Hong Kong in 1989.
Previously apprehended suspects claimed that Mr Mui used a shovel to kill the victim, whose body was buried in Hong Kong. Hong Kong authorities believed that Mr Mui had fled to Thailand in 1994.
After arriving in Thailand in 1994, Mr Mui told police, he opened a small factory in Samut Prakan province and had a Thai wife and three children. However, according to police, Mr Mui had opened an eatery in Nong Chok.
The suspect declined to comment about the murder in Hong Kong and he has been charged with illegal immigration. His extradition is being arranged.
