A selection of six movies from the touring "Making Waves -- Navigators Of Hong Kong Cinema" will be screened in Bangkok, Chiang Mai and Khon Kaen over three consecutive weekends.
Presented by Create Hong Kong in collaboration with the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office in Bangkok, the programme marks the 25th anniversary of Hong Kong SAR's establishment.
It will kick off at SF World Cinema in CentralWorld on Friday, with a screening of actor and director Chiu Sin-hang's inspirational One Second Champion (2020) at 7.30pm. The drama also stars Thai actor Chanon Santinatornkul who will make a personal appearance in the evening.
Scheduled for Saturday is Time (2021) by actor and producer Gordon Lam, who will conduct a conversation with the audience by live holo-presence from Hong Kong before the screening, at 2pm; Man Lim-chung's debut documentary Keep Rolling (2020) on the iconic Ann Hui, at 5pm; and The First Girl I Loved (2021), a sweet LGBTI romance, at 7.30pm.
On Sunday, there will be the newly-restored version of Stanley Kwan's timeless classic Rouge (1987), at 5pm; and Longman Leung's biopic Anita (2021) on the late superstar Anita Mui, at 7.30pm.
There will also be an exhibition showing the works by four Hong Kong renowned unit photographers, recounting their unique perspectives on Hong Kong cinema. It will be running at SF World Cinema's Sky Lobby from Friday to July 31.
After Bangkok, three of the movies -- One Second Champion, The First Girl I Loved and Anita -- will be screened at SFX Cinema Maya in Chiang Mai from July 29-31 and at SF Cinema CentralPlaza Khon Kaen from Aug 5-7.
There is no admission fee but registrations should be made at the box office one hour before the show time.
