KOCHI: A 34-year-old woman was arrested by Thrikkakara police for allegedly honey trapping a businessman and extorting Rs 38 lakh from him.
Shijimol (34) of NGO Quarters is the accused. Police said the victim met her at a flat in Kakkanad six years back through a friend. He was invited to a flat in Kakkanad on the night of September 2021 and was given a spiked drink that left him unconscious. The man was later threatened that his nude videos and pictures will be uploaded on social media and that his family will be informed about it. By blackmailing the victim, the accused extorted Rs 20 lakh from him.
Mom & son held for attempted murder:
Central police on Saturday arrested a mother-son duo for allegedly attempting to murder a man in broad daylight in the city. Soly Babu alias Auto Rani (42) of Kombara in Aluva and her son Savio Babu (22) are the accused. Savio allegedly thrashed a man, Kochu Joy, a cobbler near Jos Junction, using a baseball bat and then hacked him. Police said Savio, a student of MCA in Kanjirappally, ‘took inspiration’ from a blockbuster Malayalam film to cover his marks and created an impression he was away in Kottayam for collecting a certificate. Police recovered a CCTV footage in which a biker was seen with the baseball bat used in the assault and it helped them track down the accused. The assault was reportedly on behalf of his mother as she had an ongoing disagreement with the victim.
Two more held in goonda attack:
Rural police on Saturday arrested two more persons in connection with the assault of siblings after breaking into a house at North Paravur. The arrested were identified as Akhil alias Pappy (23) of Karumaloor, and Akash (27) of Thattampady.
