Homes Under the Hammer's Martin Roberts on verge of tears as he issues health update

Martin Roberts has been supported by fans as he issued an emotional health update.

The Warrington presenter was rushed to hospital last month after experiencing troubles with breathing. The 58-year-old initially thought he was experiencing symptoms of long-Covid, but was told by doctors he had a "a massive amount of fluid" surrounding his heart.

He said: "There’s a sack around your heart and it was filling with fluid, it’s called a pericardial effusion and that in turn is something called a tapenade, which basically means this sack is squeezing the heart it sits around, so the heart isn’t able to expand, and therefore isn’t able to pump, so it means all of your organs start failing.

"By the time they got to me, my kidneys were at 30% my liver was at 30%, my lungs weren’t getting the oxygen and at any point, I could have had a heart attack…. The heart would have been strangled by itself.”

Martin has been recovering since his health scare, but he revealed on Instagram today that doctors have allowed him to return to work. He said: "So, I am back filming today Homes Under the Hammer. I'm in the valleys of Wales and I never thought I would be so happy to see a two up two down terrace."

Celebrity fans and followers flooded the comments to welcome Martin's return to Homes Under the Hammer.

Co-host Lucy Alexander said: "I NEVER thought you’d be so happy kissing bricks. Oh how we love a two up two down in wales."

Terri added: "So happy for you, look after yourself "

Annie commented : "Fabulous News!!"

Kate posted: "Glad you are feeling better. And take it easy."
