Homes Under The Hammer host Martin Roberts in tears as he announces father’s death aged 90

Homes Under The Hammer host Martin Roberts has announced the death of his father in a tearful video.

The grief-stricken 59-year-old revealed his father had peacefully passed away aged 90 in an emotional post on social media on Thursday morning.

Battling tears, Roberts said losing a parent is “something we all have to deal with” but explained how he felt “really alone and horrible”.

He began: “So I don’t know if I should really be posting this video or not but, I guess people deal with things in different ways.

“This is a very private thing but I kind of just need to surround myself with as many people as I can who care right now.

“My dad died yesterday. He was 90 and he had a great life and he died peacefully, he died at home and he wasn’t in pain so that’s great but it doesn’t... well it does help but it doesn’t help right now,” he shared before getting overcome with emotion.

“The loss of a parent is something we all have to deal with and there’s much worse losses I know, the loss of a child and stuff like that.

“But right now I feel really alone and horrible. So any words you’ve got would be appreciated,” he said as tears rolled down his face.

“I don’t even know if I’ll post this but... anyway. Thank you for being there anyway.”

After sharing the post on both Instagram and Twitter, Roberts was inundated with messages of condolences from fans.

One commented under his post on Instagram: “Heartfelt condolences to you and yours Martin.

“Your Father must have been an incredible man to have shown you how to be such a warm and compassionate human being. He’ll have been so proud of you”.

“I’d like to thank you for your openness and allowing people to be there for you,” another shared. “You don’t know me but I would like to say that you are stronger than you realise and this pain only goes to show how strong the connection you had with your father is.”
