Homes were evacuated after the bomb squad were deployed to a Wirral Street.
Leslie Avenue in Greasby and the surrounding roads were closed following a report that a "suspicious package" had been found in a garden. Officers from Merseyside Police and the Explosive Ordnance Disposal team were called to the scene just before 1pm and a cordon was put in place.
Neighbouring houses were evacuated while the bomb disposal team assessed the package. It was confirmed to be safe and residents were allowed to return to their homes. The roads have now been reopened.
