Holidaymakers jetting abroad have been frustrated by a series of issues bringing delays and cancellations to blight their trip. But a UK-based travel firm has highlighted how much time and money can be saved by staying in this country.
Camplify – the caravan hire and RV sharing platform – has looked at week-long breaks in three popular international destinations – Gran Canaria, Tenerife, and Palma – and compared the cost and travel time taken with road-trip destinations in the UK: Weymouth, the Scottish Highlands, and Yorkshire.
The average cost of a July, two-adults-and-two-children, seven-night package to the overseas destinations came up at £525 per person, significantly higher than a road trip than classic British location, Norfolk. The cheapest of the top European destinations was Gran Canaria, though that still comes in a whopping 168 per cent higher than Weymouth, the most expensive spot for road trippers.
