Holyrood gender reform debate stopped as SNP MSP takes unwell

THE final stage of debate on Holyrood's gender reform was paused after an MSP reportedly took unwell at the back of the Chamber.

Scottish Greens MSP Gillian Mackay raised a point of order and asked for the suspension after an "accident" at the back of the room.

The Deputy Presiding Officer agreed and Social Justice Secretary Shona Robison, who is sponsoring the bill, could be seen in the livestream making her way to the back of the Chamber to see what was going on.

The National understands that it is an MSP who has taken unwell, but have asked the Scottish Parliament for clarification.

When proceedings resumed, DPO Annabelle Ewing said: "I am advised that one of our colleagues has taken unwell. I am assured by the business manager that that individual is feeling better. On that basis we will now resume business."

George Adam, SNP and minister for parliamentary business said that the MSP "wants everything to proceed and is keen she’ll contribute remotely from a room where she is cooler and comfier".
