Hollywood legends to be honoured with long-awaited Oscars

  • Glenn Close , Ridley Scott , and animator Floyd Norman are set to receive honorary Academy Awards, the Academy announced on Wednesday.
  • Close, 79, will finally get an Oscar after eight nominations without a competitive win, despite having won numerous other major awards throughout her career.
  • Director Scott, 88, celebrated for films such as Alien and Gladiator , will also be honoured, having previously received four Oscar nominations without a win.
  • Norman is recognised for his 65-year career, notably as the first Black animator for Walt Disney Animation Studios, contributing to many classic films.
  • Producers Christine Vachon and Pamela Koffler will receive the Irving G. Thalberg Memorial Award, presented to “a creative producer whose body of work reflects a consistently high quality of motion picture production,” the Academy said.
