Hollyoaks fans were in for a shock on Friday night, as the E4 episode of the Channel 4 soap aired an arrival, and a brutal death.
The soap's new villain The Undertaker finally arrived and was identified, leaving Sienna, Ste and Ethan worried for their lives.
Actress Glynis Barber made her Hollyoaks debut as newcomer Norma, revealed to be the latest village villain, as she claimed her first victim.
Viewers were left fearing either Ste, Ethan or Sienna would be killed off after their recent dodgy dealings, and Sienna appeared to be the planned victim.
Norma was on the warpath over her missing money, which Sienna and Ste had stolen and had since struggled to pay back.
But Ethan stepped forward to take her place, as the trio all sobbed over what could be ahead - only for a twist to occur.
They all jumped in horror as Norma claimed the life of someone unexpected, fellow newcomer Asher.
Asher was revealed to be Norma's accountant, but also her secret lover, and recently he piled the pressure on to Sienna, Ste and Ethan about getting the money back before a deadline.
Sienna had heard all about The Undertaker but wasn't too worried - that was until she and Ste realised the mystery villain was coming for them.
Norma wasted no time in issuing threats and she made it clear someone would die for crossing her.
But what they, and viewers, didn't expect was for Norma to shoot dead Asher, before blasting him as a police informant who was secretly trying to bring her down.
Making it clear this wasn't her first killing, Asher asked her: "Must we go through these morbid theatrics every time?"
She replied: "Don't worry gorgeous, it'll all be over soon," before killing him.
As the characters stood before her watched on in shock, Norma told Ste and Sienna to clean up her mess, while promising she wasn't done with Ethan.
Viewers tuning in at home were stunned by the twist, and more so by the fact Norma had killed her own lover without even flinching.
One viewer said: "She scared me when she shot Asher when I thought it was going be sienna Ste or Ethan."
Another said: "Norma killed Asher," with a shocked face emoji, as a third fan tweeted: "OK fair play to Ethan for taking responsibility, but Norma just shot Asher without even flinching!"
A fourth tweet read: "Wow wasn’t expecting norma to kill Asher I thought be Ethan sienna or Ste."
Other fans predicted there would be more murders to come, with one commenting: "I'm sure it won't be the last..."
Another said: "Norma starting as she means to go on...," while some fans also speculated she was related to another villager.
Hollyoaks airs weeknights at 6:30pm on Channel 4, with the next episode on E4 at 7pm.
