Holly Willoughby urged to 'admit the truth' as I'm A Celeb star refuses to pity Phil

Holly Willoughby has been told to "get a grip" by an I'm A Celeb star who also hit out at Phillip Schofield for his "track record of making enemies".

Politician Nadine Dorries has slammed the This Morning duo after Phil announced he had quit the show "with immediate effect" over the weekend.

It came after weeks of reports Holly and Phil were "barely speaking" off camera due to a rumoured 'feud' between them.

Now, Nadine has shared her thoughts on the pair as she urges Holly, 42, to "admit the truth".

"Why is Holly, a woman I have always admired, putting out a statement that 'the sofa won't feel the same' without him?

Nadine Dorries has hit out at the This Morning duo (ITV)

"Holly, get a grip. You should admit the truth: that you could not bear to fake it a day longer sitting next to Phillip," she wrote in her Mail column.

Nadine continued: "Schofield has a track record of making enemies and upsetting people with whom he has worked, from Fern Britton to Ruth Langsford. Sorry, but I don't feel a shred of pity for him."

She went on to reveal that "in due course we will know more about what was really going on".

Phillip, 61, who has fronted the ITV programme for over 20 years, announced on social media on Saturday that he was departing from This Morning with 'immediate effect' following speculation he and co-host Holly were no longer speaking behind closed doors.

Feud claims mounted after Phillip's brother's sex abuse trial, and the queue-gate saga back in September after both Phil and Holly were falsely accused of skipping the line to see the late Queen Elizabeth lying-in-state.

An ITV Spokesperson said: "Phillip Schofield’s decision to step down from This Morning was (as his statement made clear) a decision agreed between Phillip and ITV."

Former This Morning star Eamonn Holmes also hasn't held back his thoughts on Holly and Phil.

Not only did Eamonn like a few negative tweets about This Morning, but he also claimed Holly and Phil 'deserve each other.'

After questioning Phillip's exit, Eamonn said: "And she [Holly] says, 'Oh, the couch will not be the same without him being there'. Well, she wanted him not there. So what is she moaning about?"

He then added: "They deserve each other I suppose."

Over the turbulent week, Eamonn also made a dig that Holly and Phillip should have been recognised at last Sunday night's BAFTA TV Awards.

Speaking on GB News, Eamonn said: "I think there should have been a special award for Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby for best actors.

"They may or may not be together on the telly today. The public surely will suss that there's no chemistry, that it's a broken fit between the two of them and that This Morning does not depend on who presents it."
