Holly Willoughby's This Morning concern as ITV star ends up in hospital through vaping addiction

Holly Willoughby looked concerned live on air on Thursday, upon learning that her This Morning co-star Nicola Thorp had ended up in hospital, after becoming 'addicted' to vaping.

For the third time this week, having missed Monday's show, Holly hosted the ITV daytime programme alongside ex Holiday presenter Craig Doyle, as many viewers at home were left questioning just how well they work as a duo and calling for him to have a permanent partnership with Josie Gibson.

During Thursday's This Morning, Holly and Craig were joined by regular contributors Nicola and Nick Ferrari to discuss all manner of topic, including oil protestors targeting the Ashes at Lords and the shocking news that Madonna was rushed into intensive care at the weekend, having been struck down by a serious bacterial infection. And third on the agenda was reports that school children are 'skipping lessons' to go and vape in the toilets, forcing schools to replace their smoke alarms with heat sensors, as the vapes keep setting them off.

Kicking things off, Holly remarked: "We know that lots of shops have been accused of selling vapes to younger people and there is a real market for this," to which Nicola, reflecting on her own experiences, replied: "I'm really torn on this. I'm almost embarrassed to say that I'm an ex smoker and vaping was the only thing that got me off cigarettes."

Detailing on just how much things spiralled with her vaping, Nicola explained: "I became so addicted to vaping that I ended up in hospital," as a shocked Holly interrupted to ask: "Did you really?" Nicola continued: "I had such an elevated heart rate and they put a heart monitor on me and said, 'How much are you vaping?'

"Now I thought these little disposable things were quite harmless, but it's about 60 cigarettes worth of nicotine in a day. OK, it doesn't have the tar, it doesn't have the other chemicals in it, which is a good thing, but it's not good for your body. And I quit and I feel great."
