Holly Willoughby appeared emotional as a huge announcement was made at the start of This Morning. The first show of the week kicked off with the usual titles before the presenter and co-host Phillip Schofield appeared live from the studio.
And there was no time to waste as Holly said: "Hello, welcome to Monday's This Morning. It is the start of a brand new week and we have a very exciting announcement...."
The camera then panned away from the duo, who were sat in their usual spot at the breakfast bar next to the studio kitchen, to show two royal guards either side of the ITV set's doors. Upon royal fanfare, Gyles Brandreth appeared, in another novelty jumper, and finally revealed the news.

"Dear Mr Schofield and Ms Willoughby, you have been given a royal appointment for tomorrow (Tuesday) as you will be broadcasting live from Buckingham Palace to mark Her Majesty's Platinum Jubilee."
As the hosts grinned, Gyles continued: "You will be taking a look back at the Queen's magnificent 70 years of sovereign with a host of special guests. We look forward to welcoming you live, 10 o'clock tomorrow morning as the celebrations begin at Buckingham Palace."
Holly then screeched: "I'm so excited. It's almost making me cry," she laughed. Phillip then said to Gyles: "Beautifully done, any tips?" to which he replied: "No tIps at all but if you want to give something to the butler as you leave, he'll be very grateful."
"How incredible," Holly went on: "Downton Abbey, now Buckingham Palace. We do get the keys to all the best houses in Britain." Phillip agreed: "We really do," before adding: "This is the best one."
The 60-year-old then told viewers: "You can watch us live from Buckingham Palace tomorrow where we'll be helping to continue the Platinum Jubilee celebrations with a whole host of special guests."
As Holly and Phil then cracked on with the rest of the show, This Morning confirmed more details. Art lover Gok Wan will give a tour of the Picture Gallery and tell the story of some of the most exclusive art work in the world. He will also discuss the Queen’s incredible style evolution over the past eight decades, and how her fashion choices have inspired generations.
Horticultural expert David Domoney will explore the Queen’s favourite corners of her garden, while chef Phil Vickery will experience the royal kitchens and reveal the origins of legendary Palace recipes.
Ahead of the announcement, Phillip said: "What a privilege to get permission from Buckingham Palace for this special show. We are all really looking forward to getting a little more insight into the Queen’s life and family history, and although we have had quite a few royal moments on This Morning over the years, to be at her residence during her Platinum Jubilee year is pretty special.”
Holly commented: "I have been very lucky to have been a part of many ‘firsts’ on This Morning, but to present live from Her Majesty’s home during such a special year for her is a dream come true. I cannot wait to have a look around!"
Martin Frizell, Editor of This Morning, added: "This will be our way of commemorating one of the greatest monarchs in history. To be allowed to broadcast from the Palace, which has been her home for most of her life is an honour. Our viewers will be in for a real treat. We are taking a host of our This Morning family with us and I’m sure this will be a memorable day for us all."
