Holly Hagan says she ‘suffered sexual abuse at every club appearance’ at start of career

Holly Hagan claims she suffered "sexual abuse" at "every single" nightclub appearance she made while starring in Geordie Shore.

The 29-year-old made the allegation on the Should I Delete That? podcast.

Holly was speaking to hosts Alex Light and Em Clarkson about the alleged discrepancy in pay between the male and female stars of the MTV show

After claiming the boys made at least £1,000 per club appearance while she was on £250, Holly claimed to earn the same as her male co-stars she'd have to do "four times the work and probably receive four times the abuse".

She said: "Club appearances were just absolutely horrendous. The sexual abuse I experienced at every single one...

"You don't even understand that it's sexual abuse at the time, but people grabbing your t***s and bum, you know - it's not nice.

The reality star claims the 'sexual abuse' was something she thought she just had to put up with (hollygshore/Instagram)

"You just think you have to deal with that because you're from Geordie Shore."

Both hosts were shocked when they heard Holly's claim.

"We're getting pennies, we're getting sexually assaulted and we're earning way less than our male counterparts - so, yes, it wasn't ideal," Holly stated.

When asked why she thought the boys were said to earn more for their club appearances, she explained: "With clubs, the boys attract the girls and where girls go men follow, which is completely understandable, but wasn't ideal at the time when we were being told to quit our job because we were part of this new show."

The reality regular, who first appeared on the much-loved show back in 2011 as a fresh-faced 19-year-old, claims she was so strapped for cash that she was forced to borrow money from her mum.

The candid star makes a decent living on social media now, but admitted that she hasn't always been so well-off in a candid Instagram Q and A.

Telling her fans that she worked for free while appearing on the Newcastle-based series, she explained: “This industry can be ruthless.

“We were very naive to begin with, working for FREE for three seasons, quitting stable jobs and having no income for a long time. We’re 10 years into the job now we know our worth and what we’re capable of.”

When a fan asked her how she got by without money, Holly claimed: “We didn’t. I had to borrow money from my mam that she didn’t have."

MTV declined to comment when approached by the Mirror.
