Holly and Phil 'confirm' return to This Morning next week amid ongoing feud

Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield seemingly confirmed their return to This Morning next week following intense speculation on their friendship.

This comes after reports emerged that the once close duo are 'barely speaking' and Holly wants to present the show without Phil, as his role is "looking increasingly precarious". ITV bosses are reportedly planning a presenting 'bloodbath' as they negotiate presenters contracts later this year.

Finishing up their final show of the week, Holly, 42, touched on what will air on the show tomorrow before confirmed she will return next week. Alison Hammond and Dermot O'Leary will present the show as usual tomorrow, while Holly and Phil, 61, are set to return on Monday.

After closing Thursday's instalment of the ITV chat show, Holly told viewers she would "see you on Monday," while Phil just simply added a bye.

The pair previously spoke to a young girl called 'Zoe' during their segment on exam stress, as teenagers across the country are cramming for their important studies. The young girl admitted she had been struggling with the pressure of being a perfectionist and that stress she caused.

Phil shared a sweet quote with the girl, and speaking directly to her, he said: "I've got a really good quote, which I saved, which I cannot for the life of me read the whole thing now. What I'm going to do is, I'm going to send it to the team who can forward it onto you. Read that quote."

He added: "It's all about sometimes you just don't get it right, sometimes you fail. Sometimes you fall and get back up again. It's all of those things, everyone does."

This comes after a tough week for the This Morning presenters as reports surfaced Holly is trying to distance herself from Phil, as she plans on 'cooling off' their friendship.

A source recently explained to The Mirror: "Phil’s position is looking increasingly precarious. Monday is very much D-day, but the same could apply to any day next week. No one is bigger than the brand."

It has since been reported Phillip is facing the axe from the show if his on-screen chemistry with Holly is lost, and the presenter isn't the only one who could be reaching their final days on the ITV programme.

A source told another publication: "This Morning is preparing for some seismic changes this summer — and Phil is lined up as the first major name for the chop when his contract expires this summer. It’s highly unlikely he’ll be back in September."
