People hoping to jet off on holiday have been speaking from a passport office queue as they risked missing out on their breaks. Holidaymakers had travelled for hours to get to the office in Liverpool - one of seven in the UK - for passport appointments.
There has been a huge surge in passport applications because around five million people delayed applying during the pandemic. This had meant many are in a race against the clock to get their documents.
The Liverpool Echo went to the passport office in Old Hall Street in the city where people had began queuing since it opened at 9am. There were many tales of long journeys and stressful waits.
