Desperate holidaymakers have been seen scrambling for the best sunbeds around a Tenerife pool in a scene described as 'mayhem'.
When the pool opens hotel guests flood the area with their towels trying to save the choice spots.
In a viral video on TikTok, guests are seen throwing their towels down in an attempt to reserve the spots with some even jogging past their 'competitors'.
Anyone who slept in look to miss out on comfort around the pool for the day, reports The Sun.
More than four million people have seen the video already, but commenting on the post was turned off to stop users giving their opinion on the madness.
In a previous video shared of people clashing for sunbeds, they had rushed down at 6am.
One woman wrote: "My dad always got up at 7 am and did this."
Other people were baffled by the holidaymakers obsessive race for a lounger.
Another commented: "Never understood why people go on holidays like this."
One person commented: "This is mayhem of a vacation."
A third had even less sympathy: "If they leave the premise I’ll remove the towels and take the beds. Be there or bye bye."
Hotel staff in Tenerife have been spotted removing people's towels to stop people from reserving the loungers.
This got rounding support with one person commenting: "Good. Totally agree with this."
Another agreed: "More hotels need to start doing this. It should be first come first serve."
Someone who claimed to have previously worked at the hotel wrote: "They take away towels that have been there longer than 1 hour without anybody actually laying there. Loved it."
In an attempt to prevent that rush, tour operator Thomas Cook let holidaymakers reserve hotel loungers via an app.
